Process, Leadership Artifact

    How I Drive Impact

A five-step framework refined over 11 years of leading design in fintech, marketplace, and AI-first products. Each step compresses ambiguity into clarity, and clarity into measurable outcomes.

    01

    Identify the business goal

Align on what success looks like before touching a single screen.

Every project begins with a clear business objective, whether it's reducing churn, increasing activation, or unlocking a new revenue stream. I partner with product and engineering leads to define measurable success criteria before any design work begins. This prevents the most expensive mistake in product development: building the wrong thing beautifully.

    02

    Understand real user behavior

Data and research over assumptions, what people actually do, not what they say.

I combine quantitative signals (funnel analytics, session recordings, A/B test results) with qualitative research (interviews, usability tests, support ticket analysis) to build a ground-truth picture of user behavior. At Credit Karma, this approach consistently revealed that the biggest friction points were never where stakeholders assumed they'd be.

    03

    Find the constraint blocking value

Pinpoint the friction that's costing revenue, retention, or trust.

Once I understand both the business goal and user reality, I identify the single biggest constraint preventing value delivery. This could be a confusing onboarding flow, a compliance-heavy disclosure that kills conversion, or a recommendation algorithm that doesn't match user intent. Naming the constraint precisely is what separates strategic design from cosmetic improvement.

    04

    Align teams on highest-leverage opportunity

Cross-functional clarity so engineering, product, and design move as one.

I facilitate alignment across product, engineering, data science, and legal stakeholders using clear artifacts: opportunity briefs, decision frameworks, and prioritization matrices. The goal is to ensure everyone agrees on what we're solving, why it matters, and what we're explicitly not doing. This step alone has saved weeks of rework on every major initiative I've led.

    05

Execute for speed, clarity, and trust

Ship fast, measure everything, and earn confidence through outcomes.

I break execution into tight cycles, prototype, test, ship, measure. I use AI tools to accelerate artifact creation without sacrificing craft. Every shipped feature includes clear success metrics and a plan for iteration. The result isn't just a better product, it's earned trust with leadership that design delivers business outcomes, not just pixels.
