Open official siteWhat it does
Descript uses a transcript as an editing surface for audio and video. It also includes screen recording and captioning tools, making it a useful option for explaining a prototype.
When to use it
You want to turn a recorded walkthrough into a clearer, shorter product demonstration.
What you need: A Descript account and a short recording you can edit and share.
Try a small build
A suggested exercise to help you evaluate the resource.
- Record a short walkthrough of one task in your prototype, including the starting state and final result.
- Review the transcript, correct important names, and remove a repeated explanation or unnecessary pause.
- Add captions, check their timing, and export a review copy. Watch the export with sound off as well as on.
You should end up with: A concise walkthrough that remains understandable with captions.
Keep in mind
Review automated transcription and edits yourself. Use sample data when demonstrating a product on screen.
